Summer Scheme Ballymena 2026 — Trips, Themed Weeks and Full Days of Fun at Ladybirds
Six or seven weeks of school holidays sounds lovely in theory — until you’re a working parent in Ballymena trying to figure out what your child is actually going to do with all that time, and who’s going to be with them while you’re at work. That’s where our Summer Scheme comes in.
What is Ladybirds Summer Scheme?
It’s our full holiday childcare programme, running Monday to Friday, 8am until 6pm, for the whole summer break. Unlike term time after school club, summer scheme is a full day of activities — which means we can do a lot more.
Think:
• Trips out to local attractions and places of interest across Northern Ireland
• Themed days and themed weeks — from science and nature to sports, arts, and everything in between
• Team games and challenges that get children moving, laughing, and working together
• Free play and downtime so it never feels like a packed schedule that exhausts them
We hear it from parents every summer — their child talks non-stop about what they got up to. That’s exactly the reaction we’re going for.
More than a childminding service
Just like our after school club, Summer Scheme isn’t simply “somewhere safe for the kids to be.” Every trip and themed activity is a chance for children to build confidence, make friends outside their usual school circle, try things they’ve never tried before, and come home with a sense of achievement — not just tired out from being stuck indoors.
Pricing
• Full day: £45
• Half day: £30
• Full week: £180
• 10% sibling discount applies across the board
We know summer holidays get expensive fast, especially with more than one child, so the sibling discount is there to help.
A quick tip from us
Our summer scheme tends to get busier as the holidays go on — August books up more than July, so if you’re planning ahead, the earlier weeks are usually your best chance of getting your preferred days. Don’t be afraid to book early to guarantee your spot, especially for themed weeks that tend to be popular (we’ll be announcing this year’s themes on our Facebook page and via school newsletters).
Who can come along
Just like term time, we collect from and welcome children who normally attend Ballykeel, Carnaughts, St Brigid’s, Broughshane, Braidside Integrated, Camphill, Diamond and Gracehill Primary Schools — plus any other Ballymena families looking for reliable, fun-filled summer childcare.
