The summer holidays are just around the corner and if you're anything like most Ballymena parents, you're already wondering how you're going to keep the wee ones busy (and yourself sane!) between now and September.

We hear you.

That's exactly why Ladybirds After School Club is running our brilliant Summer Scheme again this year, from 1st July right through to 31st August 2026.

A Home from Home Right Here in Ballymena

We know handing your child over to someone else is a big deal — even more so over the summer when routines go out the window. At Ladybirds, we've worked hard to create a space that feels less like a club and more like a second home. Our children don't just come in and sit — they bounce in the door, get stuck into something brilliant, and leave with a big smile on their face. Sound good? That's because it is.

Sand play, creative building and sensory activities keep little ones engaged all summer long at Ladybirds.

What Do We Get Up To?

Every week at Ladybirds Summer Scheme has a theme — so the craic never stops! We mix hands-on learning with pure fun, and every activity is designed to keep young minds ticking over during the long summer break. Over the weeks, your child could be:

•  Getting creative with arts and crafts

•  Doing science experiments (like our famous Skittles rainbow — more on that below!)

•  Playing board games and team challenges

•  Exploring sensory and sand play

•  Building, making, and inventing

•  Enjoying outdoor activities and free play

Board games, teamwork and friendly competition - perfect for keeping minds active all summer.

Learning Through Play — Because That's How It Should Be

Summer shouldn't mean switching off completely. At Ladybirds, we weave learning into everything we do, but don't worry — the kids haven't a clue they're at it! Whether it's counting and sorting during a science experiment, following instructions in a craft activity, or practising their reading skills during quiet time, your child will be building skills all summer while they think they're just having the best craic.

This is especially brilliant for children heading into a new school year in September. Keeping those wee brains ticking over the summer makes the back-to-school transition so much smoother.

Snack Time, Happy Faces

Every child at Ladybirds gets a proper wee snack each session — because nobody does their best work on an empty stomach! We make sure children are fed, watered, and ready for whatever adventure comes next.

Settled, focused and creative — this is what a good summer scheme looks like.
